To provide our customers with the best possibilities for maintaining the straightness of their belts from front to back, Berndorf Belt Technology USA offers both manual and automated tracking systems. Our engineering team will work with you to determine the most appropriate tracking device for your process.
Vee-Ropes are a manual-tracking device consisting of a compound rubber applied to the bottom of the steel belt in a v-shape. The ropes ride in a groove built into the automatic conveyor system. The grooves on the shivs of the entrance and exits of the conveyors guide the conveyor belt to keep it running true. Conveyor belts that employ a drum system will have the grooves for the Vee-Ropes riding on the outside edge of the drum.
Vee-Ropes are a competent passive system for maintaining the straightness and life of the belt, but are unsuitable for processes employing extremely high heat. Berndorf-certified technicians help our customers with the continued maintenance of the steel belts and Vee-Ropes to keep industrial automatic conveyor systems running as much as possible.
Berndorf Belt Technology USA offers an active tracking system that continually monitors and adjusts the belt drive, enabling increased and consistent output while reducing the amount of stress on the belt. This pneumatic tracking device is designed to perform on the most rugged industrial automated conveyor systems It is designed to track a belt to within .5 inches of its center. Because electricity is not required for the tracking system’s operation, the tracker will run in even the most volatile atmospheres and during periods of power disruption.
The automatic tracking system consists of a NEMA 4 pneumatic control panel; a mechanical belt edge contact sensor; and a power-positioning unit for controlling air cylinder movement. A transducer within the panel translates the position of the mechanical sensor into pneumatic signal. This signal passes through the power positioner, which extends or retracts the armature, moving the shaft bearing. The change in shaft position allows the steel conveyor belt to track back to center.
